Facebook has over 1.86 billion active monthly users.
Let me repeat that.
Facebook has over 1.86 billion ACTIVE MONTH USERS.
Of that number, 275 million are living in the US, which is 85% of ALL PEOPLE in the US. Facebook is the single most active channel around. There is no television channel, billboard, magazine, website, or mail service that can effectively reach as many people as Facebook can.
That being said, there is no better way to reach the type of customers that you want for your business than through Facebook. However, most people do not understand how to use this amazing resource that Mark Zuckerberg created.
Most social media marketers utilize your Facebook page only. They will post random photos and verbiage in effort to get engagement to your current group of people that Liked your page. Photos that they have taken from random places and are trying to utilize them to reach your audience.

But here is a sadly overlooked fact that was published by Facebook business in 2012. “Pages organically reach about 16% of their fans on average.” Sadly, these numbers have gone down even further to between 1-5% on average as of 2017. They go on to say that in order to make sure all of your fans see your post, you need to sponsor, or boost, the post.
However, the Facebook algorithm for businesses allows more views for direct posts and real photos published directly to the page. (Not by a third party posting site like HootSuite, MailChimp)
THE SOLUTION:
If you are going to PAY to reach people, why not get more specific on who you want to reach? Boosting a post to reach the 768 people that have liked your page is ok, but why not reach the another 10,000 people that play golf within a 15 mile area for the same budget?Facebook Advertising has grown to be one of the most direct form of advertising possible and it is REALLY cheap for new customer acquisition. The amount of data that people put into their Facebook profiles allows you as a marketer to really target the type of person you want to contact.

You can.
Facebook has single handedly made a platform that people continually define their needs, interests, and actions.
In addition to the information that Facebook can get from your profile, by using your mobile app they can geo-target where you are and potentially what you are doing. This allows Facebook marketers the ability to gain your attention due to direct relevance.
